I am a Utah Photographer located in Salt Lake City, but started my career as a Las Vegas Family Photographer in 2006.
My son passed away in Vegas. The day before he passed away the man upstairs told me to buy a camera and start a website. I thought He was crazy or that I was crazy for getting such an impression. I had two kids under 22 months old and I was busy! I honestly thought ‘there is no way I could do photography if I wanted to.’ I had previously gone to college for it and it was a dream, but it didn’t seem feasible with two little kids. It was such an intense prompting that I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I stayed up on April 19th, 2006 buying my first digital camera, found my website and brainstormed my photography name. The next day is when my little guy had his accident. It was only then that I knew without a shadow of a doubt that my mission had become to give to others what I wanted to give to myself, the gift of memories. I went on a mission to capture more than just a smile, but the heart and spirit of my people.
I am forever grateful for my Vegas clients. There are no words that can express how healing my photography was in those early days of grief.
The truth is, the only thing I would get out of bed for was the opportunity to photograph a family. I would leave my home in tears of grief and come home with tears of gratitude.
For five years I lived on the joy of photographing families. Photography healed me, now we heal families through photography. Because of my journey, we started our Good Grief Project. For every family who hires us, we gift a good grief photo shoot to a family who has lost a child.
One of the hardest hurdles after your child passes away are family portraits. Together we document these families journey in turning something terrible into something bearable. The Good Grief Photo Shoot tells these stories of triumph, courage and bravery to face one of the hardest experiences life has to offer.
Tani has been a friend to me from the start. We updated her photos last time I was there. Now it’s time to get these on your wall Tani!
